Job Summary

The CAD Operator works under the guidance of the Sr. Road Design Engineer with technical guidance from the Head of Technical Section. The CAD Operator will prepare CAD drawings of the retaining/protections structures and road drainage structures such as culverts, bridges etc. with all designs and technical documentation produced by the technical section, and specifically ensure that all prepared drawings meet the specifications and work methodologies are according to AASHTO and MPW Design standards. Additionally, the Technical Unit provides capacity building and mentoring to ARAP/MPW Civil Servant counterparts.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for reviewing the plans and specifications on projects, prepared by technical team, and creating the final site specific drawings of the structures for construction in line with the design and technical specifications requirements for completeness and accuracy

Confer with members of the design and engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirements/scope of work.

Coordinate with road design engineers regarding the number, size, type and other specification of the required structures of each sub projects.

Coordinate with Road Design Engineerand geotechnical engineer regarding the type of material during preparation of site specific structure drawings

Review and check the BOQ prepared by estimation engineer.

Preparation of barbering schedule of all type of structures such as bridges, retaining walls, culverts, drains and etc.

Based in the Kabul Office, but may be asked to make short term visits to regions for data collection.

Perform any other duty in line with these ToR’s as directed by the Head of Technical Section and/or the Sr. Road Design Engineer.

Job Requirements

a. Education: B.Sc. Civil Engineering.
b. Work Experience:
- At least 4 year experience as a Road Design Engineer.
- A minimum of 2 year experience in AutoCAD Drafting or Road design Drawings
- At least 3 years of experience within the other engineering field.
c. Key Competencies:
- Auto desk certified candidates are preferred.
- Knowledge of AASHTO codes are essential.
- Strong Written and spoken skills in English.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in AutoCAD drafting of road design drawings and road structures design drawings is essential.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to prepare the bill of quantities of the project
-Structures drawings are prepared in adherence to AASHTO and/or MPW standards and use of materials according to technical specifications.
-Specifications are adhered to by Contractors
-The quantity breakdown are as per design drawings
