Job Summary:

Implement Health Promotion activities with patients and local population to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

-        Inform patients and communities about MSF and services it provides

-        According to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients and community on specific health topics

-        Implement activities of health education and awareness (sessions in schools, churches, community), under the indications and supervision of the HP Supervisor

-        Participates in the design and implementation of the HP activities and develop the HP messages and materials according to the needs and the target group under guidance of the HP supervisor and the HP Referent

-        Under the guide of HP Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications and behaviours observations), and report problems, success and constraints to him/her

-        Collect all type of information related to specific health and living conditions of the population, in particular to identify the most vulnerable populations to target

-        Specific tasks in ITFC and ATFC:

o  Advice concerning general, hand and food hygiene, danger signs, importance of maintaining a balanced diet at home, importance of follow up

o  Advice on referral system

o  Advice and support patients leaving against medical advice (LAMA)

o  Developing and implementing training with ongoing refresher courses to make sure the best breastfeeding support is being given to the mothers

Offer the caretaker(s) of the newly admitted patient(s) a tour through the centre/ hospital to show them facilities such as the latrines/toilets, showers, hand washing points, potty cleaning system, etc.

Job Requirement:

Education

-        High school diploma (12th class) essential

-        Medical or paramedical certification desirable

-        University degree desirable

-         

Experience

-        Minimum of 1-year experience in health care

-        Other experience in similar position desirable

-        Experience in malnutrition is an asset

-        MSF experience is desirable.

Languages

-        Dari/Pashtu: oral and written essential

-        English: oral and written desirable

Working hours

-       Full Time / Schedule: 176 hours per month - due to the nature of the position the candidate must be willing and capable to sometimes work outside regular office hours

-       Salary will be paid according to the MSF salary grid
