Job Summary:
Implement and supervise an infection control program in a project or health facility, according to MSF protocols, safety and Infection and Prevention Control measures, in order to ensure quality of care and safety of patients, caretakers and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out the functions and tasks associated to his/her speciality whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience
- Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality
- Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative, information and data collection tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking
- Give feedback/ reports to the line manager
- In collaboration with each service activity manager, maintaining and supporting the day to day implementation of the standard precautions in health structures in all departments including sterilization, laundry and kitchen, and providing technical supervision, training and support to the staff on IPC related issues using existing tools such as audits, checklist, surveillance
- Implementing and monitoring adherence to additional precautions for air, droplet and contact transmissible diseases when indicated. Based on a given patient-diagnosis, evaluating the need and supporting the implementation, if needed, for additional precautions in collaboration with the medical team and act accordingly
- Implementing as planned, the correct 'clean and dirty flows' inside the health facility. Ensuring that environmental standards in the facility are respected (bed spacing, number of hand washing stations, etc.) and together with the Hospital Facilities Manager and WHS Supervisor, that the essential requirements are available in the health structures
- Guaranteeing compliance to aseptic care techniques and to the correct use of antiseptics, disinfectants and detergents
- Checking the consumption and the quality of IPC materials and equipment, including cleaning materials and equipment
- As member of the Infection Control Committee, participating in and supporting the development and follow up of the Infection Control Action Plan
- Give regular feedback to the line manager and report directly any issue or incident
- In order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality, organise and coordinate the activities of team supervised (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), communicate with the HR Admin department all relevant information in due time, evaluate performance, define and ensure the needs for training
- Perform hands on tasks as part of the team whenever required or needed in order to optimize the resources and to contribute with his/her knowledge and experience
- Participate in monthly reports according to guidelines
- Responsible for the cleaners in the ITFC and isolation ward
- Specific for ITFC and ATFC:

Job Requirement:
Education
- Nursing diploma essential
- Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) essential
Experience
- Other experience in similar position essential
- Minimum 3years of experience as a nurse or IPC referent
- MSF experience is an asset
- Experience in Infection and Prevention Control in a hospital setting is an asset
- Experience as a supervisor is an asset
Languages
- Dari/Pashtu: oral and written essential
- English: oral and written desirable
Working hours
- Full Time / Schedule: 176 hours per month - due to the nature of the position the candidate must be willing and capable to sometimes work outside regular office hours
- Salary will be paid according to the MSF salary grid
