Job Summary

An Interpreter/Translator is required to provide high quality translation services and interpretation of mining sector matters for the Ministry of Mines from Russian to English and vice versa. This is a long term position with initial 1 year contract with possible extensions available by mutual agreement.

Duties & Responsibilities

provide accurate and high quality translation and interpretative advice in meetings and negotiations drawing on a wide knowledge of mining sector operations and customs;

Provide translation of official and legal documents such as laws, regulations, contracts, agreements, TORs etc.

interpretation of conversations, presentations or speeches in meetings, ensuring that communications between the Ministry, the PMU and stakeholders are accurately conveyed;

Translation of letters, documents and notes on presentations from English to Russian and vice versa;

Writing letters, compiling reports, making presentations and representing the same when needed.

Translation of Russian Geological reports to English and other duties of a related nature as directed by the PMU Director consistent with the above.

Job Requirements

At least Bachelor degree & formal English, Russian training from a recognized training provider up to Advanced level.

An excellent command of both spoken and written English/Russian.

At least three years of relevant experience in public or private sector.

Demonstrable translation and interpretation experience in high-level contract negotiations.

A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel applications is required.

Previous experience in projects funded by international cooperation organizations is desirable.
