Village of Peace Organization for Afghans (VOPFA) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization situated in Bamyan, Central Province of Afghanistan. Bamyan is one of thirty-four provinces in Afghanistan with population of approximately 418,500 inhabitants (CSO, 2011). It is a mountainous and semi-mountainous area with natural beauty rather than any other region, where the main occupation is agriculture and animal husbandry. However, the Human Development Index (HDI) ranks the area amongst the low developed in the country, with limited infrastructure, multidimensional vulnerabilities such as high birth rate, high unemployment, and most importantly widespread poverty. This distressing situation prompted the formation of VOPOFA in 2002, with an aim of addressing the social problems caused by such poverty.
VOPOFA has been operating under its legalized registration number: (129) at Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan since 2002 in Kabul Afghanistan and reregistered with some reforms and changes in 2005. The organization situated across Central Afghanistan and vary in its common initiatives and activities at national level. The organization aims to rebuild Afghanistan by breaking the cycles of violence, poverty and injustice through means of sustainable economic development and social investment. The main target groups are the most vulnerable people of society – orphans, widows, most vulnerable families and the disabled. The overriding purpose of the VOPOFA is to work in partnership with these community groups, in order to promote self-reliant activities through local initiatives, reducing poverty and instigating action towards development.
Accountability Officer will be responsible for orienting the project team on the accountability, ensuring beneficiary complains are received and responded in a timely manner.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social science, international development, or a related field.
Work experience:
3 years’ experience in working with NNGOs/INGOs with relevant community development/training and capacity building focus
Languages:
· Excellent speaking, writing and understanding of English and Dari is required.
Computer skills:
· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office application.
Others:
· Strong critical thinking and reasoning skill
Experience in training, community consultation, and systems development;
Understanding and familiarity with data management;
Hands-on experience of monitoring and supporting community-based development program.
Excellent report writing, communication (written and verbal) skills, and strong IT skills;
Experience in facilitating focus group discussions with local communities and reporting.
Strong facilitation and communication skills;
Good reporting skills including compilation, analysis & presentation
