Duties & Responsibilities


To develop and implement rainfed and irrigated agriculture activities in the selected village of Yawan, Raghustan and Kohistan districts, by introducing sustainable technologies and capacity building of farmers. The holder of this position has the role of facilitator in the emergency response intervention.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
• To assist the local farmers to identify, prioritize and to analyze village agricultural problems.
• Based on assessments – needs, constrains, opportunities, local potential develop participatory three year agriculture development plans and ensure communities from each targeted catchment is aware about the same.
• To assist the creation of local agricultural development committees / common interest groups, as appropriate
• To assist local poor farmers to implement agricultural development plans with support from Concern and other agencies.
• To ensure that agricultural project activities are implemented in such a way as to promote community ownership and participation.
• To assist village leaders to ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable groups in the community (including women) are targeted and included in all agricultural programme activities
• To deliver training and ongoing support to local farmers and agricultural development committees leaders.
• Together with the local community leaders, monitor the impact of agricultural programme activities on village life against specified goals and objectives
• To ensure there is ongoing and effective communication between the communities and Concern
• To ensure that Concern are aware of local agricultural and rural issues and concerns that will impact upon the project and country strategy plan, especially Food, Income and Market strategies
• To identify and be aware of the constraints and opportunities in the projects implementation.
• To undertake an evaluation of agricultural programme activities at an appropriate time after its completion (in conjunction with village representatives and Concern personnel) that incorporates the views of the village people including the most vulnerable.
• Develop monitoring and information system to ensure all project indictors and Agriculture activities are monitored and data maintained on regular basis.
• Visit the project villages regularly and assess progress and report to the Project Manger / Programme Coordinator.
• Mobilize and monitor the performance of NRM committees.
• Develop high quality monthly /annual progress reports.
• Assist the Project Manger in monitoring and evaluation of NRM activities.

Job Requirements

Essential:
 Degree in Agriculture.
 At least 3 years relevant experience with INGOs.
 Experience in agriculture extension trainings for rural communities and experience of developing agriculture training modules and extension materials such as leaflets and posters.
Desirable:
 Speak, read and write English
 Knowledge of agriculture national and regional policies
 Knowledge and Experience of livestock development trainings
 Knowledge and Experience of commercial agriculture and /or promotion of cash crops and plants (medicinal plants).
