About Chemonics International ATAR project

Job Summary

ATAR is seeking outgoing, energetic, self-motivated and outcome-oriented individuals to support the standards team and ANSA Certification Unit with a focus on learning certification processes and conducting research and study.
III. REPORTING: The positions report to the Trade Policy Liberalization Manager or Deputy Team Leader or his/her designee.
VIII. DUTY STATION: This position is based in Kabul at Afghanistan National Standard Authority (ANSA)
IX. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel outside of Kabul will be determined with the incumbent by the Customs Reform Manager or his/her designee, travel to post may or may not be provided.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Study of general information about certification activities
2. Conduct research on product certification and system certification to identify the challenges and opportunities
3. Assist Standards Team in preparing and organizing meetings, roundtables and seminars, prepare minutes and reports
4. Participate in workshops and seminars to build and enhance his/her capacity and knowledge
5. Collect, update and file data and information properly
6. Perform any other appropriate tasks that support the overall project, as assigned by the supervisor or his/her designee.

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in science or agriculture,

Recent graduate with bachelor degree without any work experience

Knowledge of Afghanistan trade and economic system

Knowledge of national, regional and international Standards systems.

Good communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and spoken English, Dari, and Pashto language required

Computer spreadsheets/word processing skills

Ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment and to establish and maintain good working relations with GIRoA officials

Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to maintain confidentiality

Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and sit for long periods of time; regular use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and file; regularly required to talk and hear; and regularly required to use computer to look up, create, and modify documents.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Normal office environment; usually moderate noise level

Occasional exposure to environmental conditions include exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
