The principal objective of this assignment is to provide technical backstopping support for construction of biogas plant and to raise awareness for using biogas in different provinces of Afghanistan. The specific objectives are as follows:
ï‚§ Identify potential areas for development of biogas plants in Afghanistan and undertake household surveys to identify clusters of potential for development. Select suitable sites for demonstration of biogas plants in consultation with NABDP regional office and the concerned DDA;
ï‚§ Translate feasibility study formats for installation of biogas bio-gas plants in Dari and Pashtu;
ï‚§ Conduct training for potential masons in the project area. The training should include basic design parameters as well as construction and maintenance technique;
ï‚§ Identify the best biogas design with appropriate feeding materials suitable for each cluster. Prepare Project Proposal for different clusters, including contribution from the potential plant owners. The proposal should include drawings and detail cost estimation. The plant cost should be divided into local and non local cost. The program will contribute non local cost where as users have to contribute local cost which includes local material and labour;
 Produce biogas user’s manual and other supporting documents for successful implementation of biogas program in Dari and Pashtu. This should include after sales service form, quality standard form, monitoring and verification form, agreement form for users and mason etc.
ï‚§ Enforce quality standard parameters for quality control and verification of biogas plants;
ï‚§ Produce biogas construction manual in Dari and Pashtu.
ï‚§ Produce monthly and quarterly progress reports.
ï‚§ Undertake other activities as assigned by ERDA Team Leader.
Qualifications required:
The candidate should have University Degree in Engineering and experience on biogas design, construction and quality control including field verification and monitoring with minimum of 1 year working experience. S/he must possess strong inter-personal skills, as well as excellent capabilities in report writing, drawing (2D and 3D) and fluency in English language skills.
Reporting
The Expert shall work under the general supervision of the NABDP Programme Manager and the direct supervision of ERDA Team Leader.
The NABDP/MRRD shall place no restrictions on the eligibility of men and women to participate in any capacity under conditions of equality in its principles and subsidiary organ.
