Job Summary

The BSS engineer’s responsibility is to assist the BSS engineering team with the overall O&M, CM, and rollout project of the Radio Access Network. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Installing and commissioning the HUAWEI BSC/RNC.
  2. Installing and integration of Huawei BTS/ Node B/ e node B system for the region.
  3. Responsible for regular operation and maintenance including alarm checking, alarm clearing, critical alarm reporting, hardware and cable fault detection, and troubleshooting as per guidelines.
  4. Integrating new TRX/cells/ sectors for BTS /NodeB/ eNodeB.
  5. Adding new boards as per directives in BSC/RNC/BTS/NodeB and EnodeB.
  6. Responsible for migration activities of BTS, NodeB, and eNodeB.
  7. Performing maintenance work on different interfaces on BTS/BSC/RNC and eNodeB.
  8. Checking the load of different nodes/boards and reporting to the managers.
  9. Preparing database for BSS BO. 
  10. Coordinating the field with other departments.
  11. Responsible for license monitoring/activation of NodeB and EnodeB licenses.
  12. Implementing the RF request as per the guidelines.
  13. Troubleshooting in accordance with the instructions from BSS managers.
  14. Carrying on the preventive maintenance work in a timely manner.
  15. Handling the spare as well as the faulty equipment.
  16. Preparing the reports on the faulty equipment returned from the sites and submitting them to the concerned department.

Supervisory Tasks (IF REQUIRED):

  1. Supervising and instructing the BSS technicians for installation of the BSS equipment on sites.
  2. Instructing the rigger team properly to isolate the fault and in the preventive maintenance phase.
  3. Monitoring and rectification of physical alarms while visiting the HUB and Cell sites.

Technical Tasks:

  1. Managing the project of BTS installation on site.
  2. Handling the BTS software and LMT software for local maintenance.
  3. Configuring and implementing various BTS topologies according to the plan.
  4. Monitoring and analyzing the alarm.
  5. Isolating and rectifying faults of BTS, power rack, Battery bank, and DDF.
  6. Integrating the external/ environmental alarm monitoring devices with BTS/BSC.
  7. Handing the swapping activities from one Product to another.
  8. Working in response to customer complaints about different locations.
  9. Interacting with NOC engineers and providing technical solutions for alarm rectification.

Planning and Reporting:

  1. Planning for the preventive maintenance for all NE site-by-site basis.
  2. Preparing and submitting reports of day-to-day activities to the BSS managers.

Training and Capacity Building:

  1. Conducting job training for the BSS technicians and riggers.
  2. Sharing knowledge with team members. 

Organization Relations:

  1. Coordinating with the Rigger team to manage the BTS installation phase in a proper manner.
  2. Working with the power team to arrange the required power connection for all BSS equipment.
  3. Coordinating with the Microwave transmission team for integration of NE with BSC.
  4. Coordinating with the IPO and RF teams.
  5. Communicating with the third-party transport company to get the location update of inbound equipment.
  6. Need to work with other departments at various times to get the work done in a proper and timely manner. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experiences:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science & Engineering, Telecommunication, or related subject area from a well-known reputed University with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Telecom service provider as a BSS Engineer.
  2. Need to have excellent knowledge of IP technology. Candidates having CCNA/CCNP official certification will be preferred.
  3. Need to have good knowledge of GSM/WCDMA/LTE wireless network architecture.
  4. Need to be fluent in English.
  5. Need to have self-motivation to learn new things and should be a self-learner.
  6. Need to solve incidents alone / with a team when needed. 

Desirable Attributes:

  1. Hardworking and willing to do the work outside in harsh conditions.
  2. Willing to travel to the remote part of the country.
  3. Willing to stay in provinces/regions for the sack of work activities.
  4. Experiences with installation and BTS commissioning.
  5. Have a basic knowledge of Transmission equipment power systems on-site.
