Job Summary

The managers of a small business mostly are proprietors of the business. He or she has basically the responsibility to formulate the plans to take the business forward and increase the productivity. He or she oversees all aspects of the business such as production, marketing and customer service in any kind of small business ranging from fast food outlets to clothing stores and salons.

Duties & Responsibilities

A small business manager is almost solely responsible for running the company. There are a wide range of duties and responsibilities of a small business manager which are as follows:
• The primary duty is to prepare plans and formulate strategies for the working of the company and execution as well.
• He or she has the responsibility to utilize the resources as much as possible and so coordinate the different resources of the company.
• He or she has to oversee the matter of managing the finances of the company based on the net income.
• He or she needs to fulfill the entire legal formalities so has to take care of such as firm registration and license with the requirements like fixing file returns nicely.
• The person also needs to take steps effectively for the growth and promotion of the company by formulating effective sales and marketing strategies.
• He or she has the responsibility to monitoring the staff as well and evaluate the performance of employs with making decisions regarding hiring or firing staff.

The skills and specification which are needed in a person desiring to be a small business manager are as follows:
• The person should have a sound and thorough knowledge about the principles of business management and the sense of running a business.
• He or she needs to be excellent leader to motivate and encourage the staff to do better and so should have leadership qualities.
