The Afghanistan Value Chains – Livestock (AVC-Livestock) is a USAID funded program expected to run through June 2023. AVC-Livestock utilizes a market systems approach to strengthen and facilitate key transactions at either end of the farmer in targeted value chains - the commercial vendors of the goods and services that farmers need to grow higher volumes of quality produce, and the processors and traders who purchase farmers’ harvests. AVC-Livestock is a market-driven, private sector-focused program that aims to sustainably strengthen the dairy, poultry, honey, red meat and fiber value chains throughout Afghanistan resulting in increased incomes, employment and productivity throughout targeted value chains.
Afghan Rugs and Capret Center (ARCC) established in 2014 with aim to promote the ancient industry of carpet making and restore over 1,500 carpet designs in its center. The company is located in Kabul with production branchers in other regions in Afghanisan. The company produces carpets and rugs with over 100 designs sold in international and local markets. ARCC is currently using a different version of carpet designing software which does not meet the firm's requirements and market's demand . There for, the company requested AVC-Livestock to support the company with provision of a carpet designing software named Galaincha software and hire a carpet designer to train the firm's technical staff on the usage of the software. Galaincha is a software program designed specifically for the handmade rug industry to improve efficiencies and accuracy, decrease wastage, and improve the ability of carpet designers to produce more customized desinges of rugs and carpets. Galaincha allows for more complex designs, better estimation of materials, reduced graphing times, and provides the customer the ability to quickly gauge relative cost with material changes, exemplum gratia: silk versus wool.
The overall objective of this assignment is to provide focused trainings for Afghanistan Rugs and Carpets Center’s staff to improve employee capacity/knowledge in carpet designing and proper usage of Galaincha carpet designing software. After completing a rapid assessment of gaps in the current carpet designing process, facilities, employee knowledge of designing and running the newly procured Galaincha software, the STTA will develop a capacity building and training plans, capacity building tools for the new designing software. This technical assistance will enable Afghanistan Rugs and Carpets Center produce advanced and improved, and market demanded carpet designs as well as educate them on the proper usage of Galaincha carpet designing software.
Tasks
Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develop a comprehensive carpet designing capacity building plan based on the initial assessment and develop capacity building tools.

Train ARCC staffs on proper use of the software

A detailed final report of assignment including lessons learned and recommendations.

Reporting
The trainer will report to AVC-Livestock Chief of Party or designee
Baccalaureate with at least three years of relevant work experience in carpet sectors, a minimum of two years of relevant experience in carpet designing and carpet weaving, preferably in Afghani designs like Chobi Rang, Khuja Roshani and Yousofi designs
· Familiar with carpet designers software
· High computer knowledges of MS Office Packages and all required programs
· Strong writing, communication and negotiating skills
· Proficiency in Dari, Pashtu and English is required

Anchor Firm Contribution to Assignment Expenses
Afghanistan Rugs and Carpet Center (ARCC) has agreed to procure Lunch, refreshment and stationery costs for the training for 44 days ($50/day), hire two technical staff for carpet designing training and continue working with the firm for 12 months and pay the salaries ($1,000/month/staff for 12 months) and provide Top up card and internet costs for the STTA.
