Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

At Islamic Relief Worldwide Afghanistan, we are committed to providing young talents with the tools and opportunities to advance and grow professionally, in alignment with our core values: Sincerity, Excellence, Custodianship, Compassion, and Social Justice. In this regard, we have launched a program under the HELP Project Youth Component, aimed at hiring and developing young graduates. This initiative equips them with the necessary skills to succeed in future positions across various departments, while enhancing their employability in the local job market.

The program focuses on building a talent pool that is well-rounded, strengthening both technical abilities and essential behavioral/life skills. Additionally, it provides young individuals with the chance to refine their skills, share their experiences, and contribute meaningfully in a professional context.

Key objectives of the program include:


  • Providing young people with real-world work experience, enabling them to gain both technical expertise and the interpersonal skills needed for successful teamwork.
  • Promoting personal growth by encouraging youth to step out of their comfort zones, take on new challenges, and assume greater responsibilities.
  • Preparing young people for full-time employment by introducing them to workplace standards, expectations, and professional ethics.
  • Equip Youths with Marketable skills.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in gathering and preparing short articles and success stories about the impact of our projects on the lives of the people we support.
  • Assist in producing highly engaging multimedia content, including videos, photos, and graphics for social media, websites, and other platforms.
  • Assist in translating and transcribing materials such as testimonies, case studies, articles, blogs, press releases, official letters, media posts, and other written materials from local languages (Dari and Pashto) to English and vice versa.
  • Assist in organizing events both internally and externally under the guidance of the communication officer.
  • Assist in media management, including daily media monitoring
  • Assist in drafting social media blurbs/text, scheduling content, and engaging with followers on our various media platforms.
  • Help in scheduling and conducting interviews with our rightsholders and other stakeholders  
  • Assist in producing different publication materials, including newsletters, brochures, booklets, and other promotional materials.


Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, media studies, journalism, marketing, international relations and development studies, or any other related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
  • No currently enrolled in a university or other studies that require physical attendance.

Experience:

·      No Experience required- Fresh Graduate

Competency:

·      Good communication skills in English, Dari, and Pashto.

·      Excellent Interpersonal skills.

·      Familiar with MS Office packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.
