Job Summary

Provide support in Communication related.

Duties & Responsibilities

 Within the framework of OAM/AMA program and operations objectives, develop communications and information strategy and carry out communications activities to promote and share information about the OAM/AMA.
 Work closely with the Executive Director and Executive Board plan and design internal and external communication and information strategies that include press releases, a media strategy especially with regard to advocacy, and sharing of lessons learnt
 Develop knowledge management policy for OAM/AMA
 Integrate OAM/AMA knowledge management policy into internal and external communications strategy and assist in making knowledge and information available for learning
 Maintain press clips/files clips, films, photos, promotion materials, leaflets, brochures, etc
 Develop and manage easy methods for information to flow between and amongst partner agencies and project supporters through:

 Act as Communication Focal Point for OAM/AMA, including management of press and other media inquiries
 Continue to create and maintain cohesive communication linkages between larger organizations engaged reproductive health and safe motherhood activities.

 Maintain and distribute relevant information on reproductive health and safe motherhood through:
- AMA quarterly news letter
- Conducting on line research, data collection, and events
- Drafting relevant reports, in partnership with other stakeholders as appropriate
- post mail and email
- meetings, etc
 Updating the AMA web site and face book account with current information.
 Collaborate with key partners and relevant agencies and organizations in the collection of materials for the AMA website.
 Implement activities identified in the communication strategy.
Fundraising
Provides support, where necessary, for fundraising activities, including:

 Writing fundraising project proposals/concept notes for potential partners;
 Identifying potential corporate partners/donors;
 Organizing and participating in meetings with potential donors;
 Maintaining and regularly updating contact database;
 Organizing and participating in specific fundraising activities.
Other
 Translate key documents from English into Dari/Pashto and vice versa.
 Report writing of major advocacy events like mother’s night, IDM and Congress
 Provide editorial support to program team on their quarterly reports.
 Assist Executive Director/Executive Board in drafting letter of agreements or Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs)
 Assist the Executive Director/Executive Board in agenda setting and providing secretariat services (eg. meeting minutes)
 Participate in workshops, meetings, conferences relevant to the work
 Edit Speeches for Executive Director or AMA President
 Assist the OAM/AMA in any media-related activities.
 Any other official responsibility assign by Supervisor

Job Requirements

o Minimum bachelor degree in a relevant social science discipline, preferably in communications, journalism, and/or international development
o At least three years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, liaison with a wide range actors, communications and advocacy.

 Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work well as part of team  Demonstrated expertise and experience in public relations and liaising with a wide range actors  Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize information for dissemination  Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, including willingness to work long hours on occasion as required  Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently  Strong written and spoken English language ability  Literacy in Windows-based computer applications  Experience in working with non-government organizations and/or UN system organizations
