In the position as a Communications Officer you report directly to the ICRC's Deputy Head of Sub-Delegation in Kandahar. Your main responsibility is to actively contribute to planning and implementation of ICRC communication activities as well as to independently manage ICRC publications and dissemination materials. Your main tasks include:
· Coordination, planning and implementation of operational communication activities
· Maintaining and managing a network of internal and external contacts interlocutors
· Media monitoring and environment scanning
· Identification and mapping of key target audiences
· Managing of ICRC publications / products (stock keeping, orders,…)
· Internal communication
· Contribution to reporting, evaluation and monitoring of operational activities as well as statistics
· General duties, such as administrative work
· Support to Cooperation department

· University degree in journalism, communications or equivalent
· 4 years work experience in a similar field
· Fluent in written and spoken English, Dari, Pashto
· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Strong team player
· Capacity to analyse the political and social environment
· Background or working experience in journalism is an asset
