Afghanistan’s agricultural sector education and training faces enormous challenges, from modern tools and curricula in a public and private institution of higher education to infrastructure to lack of training for personnel. And yet, about 80 percent of the country’s population depends on it, either directly or indirectly. Catalyzing Afghanistan’s agriculture innovation is an important program for food security, safety, and income generation and is a key factor in knowledge and competence building.

The five-year program commenced on May 28, 2018, and is funded by USAID under Associate Award. The project is implemented by AET Global, LLC under Virginia Tech.

Job Summary

The position is responsible for providing computer instruction to students who do not understand the educational, business, and personal use of computers by creating a classroom environment that develops competencies, knowledge, and skills in accordance with each student's ability.

The Computer Instructor/Teacher is responsible for providing basic computer instruction and assessments to limited computer proficient students including curriculum development, evaluation of students’ progress, and accurate maintenance of all students’ records. Classroom instruction should be interactive and incorporate a variety of teaching techniques including the use of computer hardware, software, audiovisual materials, and real-life materials.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop structured lessons to increase the students’ ability to use the various programs and computer systems such as windows, internet browsers, social media, emails, search engines, websites, etc.
  • Develop easy-to-understand and follow instructions in application software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Teach students how to use computers in business development, job search, communication, research paper, and personal development and enrichment.
  • Conduct training and provide hands-on activities to take place in a laboratory setting.
  • Meet with ANASTU Students, Employees, and Managers to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of the students.
  • Research and work with the various new programs that can be useful or needed for training.
  • Complete follow-up evaluations, getting feedback, and modifying programs.
  • Provide some crisis intervention or support help for individuals that have taken the program but are having difficulty with some aspect of the training.
  • Design and deliver computer training material tailored to the needs of the students in ANASTU.
  • Organize, maintain and manage class systems in proper working condition
  • Develop computer training materials as per the need of ANASTU, preferably in national languages, Pushto and/or Dari.
  • Participate in " Onboard or orientation " training for new students.


Job Requirements

  1. Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
  2. Current teaching certificate in computer skills preferred.
  3. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English and Both Local Languages.
  4. Must demonstrate a commitment and ability to serve students with different levels of learning abilities.
  5. Must possess working skills in the use of technology to deliver education instruction and teach basic computer skills to the students.
  6. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CAAI DCOP, education specialists, school administration, and TVET-A.
  7. Ability to manage the classes.
