Household Survey
To understand the existing knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of the communities being served a KAP House Hold Survey on hygiene and sanitation has been conducted in six selected provinces. Relevant data has been collected from the 85 project communities from the 17 districts, and the collected data have been entered in the Access database. Thus SWSS is at a stage of analyzing the data.
The need
The professionals from MSH, who have been instrumental in guiding the HH survey process have advised that SWSS should be utilized to analyze the collected data because SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is a comprehensive, analytic and among the most widely used programs for statistical analysis in social science research that offers a broad range of statistical and analytical capabilities from planning and data preparation to analysis, reporting and data documentation.
As such SWSS is searching for a competent and experienced SPSS programmer, who, under a contractual arrangement, could not only train a selected group of 10-12 participants on the utilization of SPSS package but also provide technical support during the analyses and reporting phase if the newly trained team cannot use the program competently.
The major topics to be covered in training
1. Introduction to SPSS
2. SPSS basic elements
3. Introduction to SPSS different types of windows, and it's common shared options
4. Creating a dataset
5. Labeling
6. Data Entry
7. Data Coding and producing coding manual of Datasets
8. Data Cleaning
9. Data Aggregation and disaggregation
10. Identification of Duplications (Duplicate Cases)
11. Weighting
12. Computing and Recoding of variables
13. Descriptive Statistics (Descriptive, Frequencies, Cross Tabulation)
14. Tables (Basic Tables, General Tables and Multiple Response Tables)
15. Mean, Median, Mode, Sum and other basic functions
16. Correlation and Regression
17. Performing some tests (T-test, chi squire, etc)
18. Graphs basic
19. Finding confidence Interval, Error margins, etc.
20. Any other areas that may be identified during the preparatory phase of the training
Step to be followed
The consultant:
1. Meets and discusses with Dr. A Hatifie, Dr. Roshan and SWSS M and E chief on the SPSS training related needs and priorities of SWSS
2. Based on the above, agrees on and develops a work-schedule
3. Develops a training plan
4. Implements the training package and prepare the training report
5. Provides backstopping support when and if needed
Graduated in relevant discipline
Qualified and experienced to conduct SPSS Training.
SKILLS:
Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Able to communicate fluently effectively both verbally and in writing Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team must also be able to create a supportive working relationship among all project teams
LANGUAGES:
Fluent knowledge of speaking and written English, Dari and Pashto
GENERAL:
Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills are desired;
Tactfulness, enthusiasm to the job Good human relation skills, integrity and ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure
