Founded in 2004, The First Microfinance Bank - Afghanistan (FMFB-A) is part of the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM), which has programmes in over 10 countries throughout the developing world. Job Summary

The incumbent of the position is responsible for cooking the food of FMFB-A Guests and staff; and extending required support in any other identical area of the bank operations as per supervisor instructions.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the Cook assistant.
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
  • Stock and grocery inventory appropriately.
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with staff and customers.
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.).
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.
  • Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work stations.
  • Cooking order according to food health and safety standard.
  • Delivering food order to wait staff in a timely manner.
  • Sanitizing and cleaning work stations and utensils.
  • Guiding cook assistant in preparing food or helping other team members when needed.
  • In collaboration with the point person for arranging staff lunch, preparing or organizing lunch for FMFB-A staff.
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor.



Job Requirements

Education: Basic literacy, 12th Grade graduate is preferable.

Age: 18 to 35 years old



Skills:   Ability to cook variety of dishes, Multitasker and punctual.

Work Experience: At least 2-year hands-on experience of cooking.

Personal Trait: Punctuality, obedience, a good sense of humors and demonstrated integrity.
