Duties & Responsibilities

The Cotton Production Specialist in liaison with the Project Director will be responsible for the training of farmers and Extension Agents (EAs) on the modern cotton production techniques.


Analyze the current situation in raw cotton production, the structure of the sector and trends, etc.

Identify and priorities the needs of farmers and the cotton industry

Set up demonstration plots for practical training and product development

Develop cotton farmers capacity to increase the supply of quality cotton products

Develop awareness of cotton farmers for their responsibilities as commercial suppliers

Prepare training materials and train EAs on the integrated cotton crop management which they will further transfer to the farmers

Conduct cotton production surveys, analyze the data and prepare report on the findings

Work with different government and non government agencies functioning in the cotton sector to identify the cotton varieties which are suitable for cultivation in Balkh

Adopt and demonstrate Best Management Practices for cotton in the farmer fields

Prepare monthly and quarterly reports and make recommendations to the CARD-F Management Unit (MU) on day to day field activities

Liaise with designated representatives of DAIL at Provincial level to ensure that they are aware of project progress and any issues that may require attention

In partnership with CARD-F M&E team, develop indicative log frames and base line survey designs and deliverables

Regularly review and make timely recommendations on the proposed deliverables of the project

Be able and willing to travel frequently to the project areas

Any other tasks assigned by the Project Director

Job Requirements

Master degree in Agriculture Sciencs with specializaiton in Industiral Crops, preferably with training relating to agricultural economics and Agribusiness.



. Skills:


Must be fluent in Dari, Pashto and English

Good written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills

Ability to think strategically, as well as excellent innovation, lateral thinking and problems solving skills

Experience:


5-7 Years of working experince in the cotton sector
