The Database/Officer will report to Senior Database/MIS Officer and his/her duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Work closely with the Programme team and remain responsible for the overall database management, reporting and mapping activities of the programme
Collect, compile, store and analyze data and information coming from the field and design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, queries and implementation of data dashboards to display data in differing formats.
Develop/design and format of a computerized Management Information System (MIS) and domain.
Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop relational databases and secondary databases and its integration (i.e. GIS).
Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues and plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
Development and maintenance of the database stored procedures, views and functions for hosted web applications.
Creation and maintenance of technical documentation and development and maintenance of Data Warehouse.
Work closely with the field staff and support in preparation of all types of progress reports like; weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Discuss and understand reporting formats and make sure that all field staff is reporting field progress using standard reporting formats on regular basis.
Perform any other tasks assigned by the project management, when required
Bachelor level qualification in computer science or related discipline with 3 years related experience. A high School certificate with two additional qualifying experiences accepted in lieu of University Degree.
He/she must have skill of Data Management and Data Processing Software such as Ms Access, Ms Excel, Ms Excel functions as well Ms Word. Good communication skills – both written and interpersonal will be essential, as most of the work will be done through a process of consultation at all levels.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in Dari, Pashto and English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
