Job Summary
The Deputy Finance Manager supports the Finance Manager in overseeing the financial operations of Afghan Invest Co. This role ensures that financial reports are accurate, budgets are well-managed, and compliance with local regulations and internal policies is maintained. The Deputy Finance Manager plays a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and control, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring the company’s financial health.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis:
Assist in the development of financial strategies and long-term financial goals.
Prepare and review financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for management.
Support the preparation of annual budgets and monitor financial performance against targets.
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
Oversee the monthly financial activities of AIC provincial offices
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
Monitor and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts, including bank accounts and intercompany balances.
Ensure accurate maintenance of financial records and oversee the financial audit process.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management:
Assist in managing the company’s cash flow, including monitoring and forecasting short- and long-term cash requirements.
Coordinate with banks and financial institutions to ensure the availability of funds and effective management of loans and financing arrangements.
Ensure appropriate liquidity management and optimize working capital.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
Support the Finance Manager in ensuring compliance with all relevant financial laws, company policies, and regulations.
Assist in identifying financial risks and developing mitigation strategies to protect the company’s assets.
Team Management & Leadership:
Provide leadership and support to the finance team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Support the professional development of finance staff, including training and mentoring.
Ensure appropriate delegation of responsibilities and maintain efficient workflows within the finance department.
Coordination with Other Departments:
Work closely with other departments (e.g., operations, procurement, and HR) to ensure that financial information is accurate and supports business needs.
Assist in the financial evaluation of major projects and capital investments.
Collaborate with external auditors, government authorities, and other stakeholders.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of the company’s budgets.
Monitor departmental spending and ensure effective cost control measures are implemented.
Identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives and financial efficiency improvements.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s or professional certification like ACCA or CPA is preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
Excellent understanding of local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems. Specially QuickBooks
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Fluent in Dari, Pashto, and English.
