Move Against Poverty of Women Organization (MAPWO) is a not-for-profit, non-political, and non-governmental humanitarian organization. MAPWO was established in 2016 to work alongside other national and international partners for provision of education, health, and other social services aiming to reach the most unreached and highly underserved pockets of the society and women empowerment focusing on alleviating the sufferings of the most vulnerable groups of the society in different community structures such as rural, urban, IDPs, returnees, etc. Since its establishment, MAPWO has worked hard to implement projects that ensure people’s access to quality and equitable education and health and other basic life services with focus on vulnerable group of society (women and girls).

Job Summary

MAPWO needs District Community Mobilizers (DCMs) to be based in districts of Paktika and Wardak province. The DCMs will work with DEDs, Communities in the identification and selection of literacy facilitators and learners based on preidentified criteria. Furthermore, community mobilizers will be responsible for the establishment of Village Literacy Committees and ensuring visibility and monitoring of the basic general literacy courses.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Cooperate the provincial community mobilizer and project officer in conducting a thorough needs assessment for YALBE literacy courses establishment, beneficiaries’ enrolment, teachers’ recruitment, Village Literacy Committee’s establishment and other field level activities.
  • Cooperate and support the Provincial officer and DCMs in identification and selection of Literacy Facilitators (teachers), and beneficiaries or learners, prepare lists in close coordination with Village Literacy Committee (VLC) and District Literacy Officer in DED.
  • Ensure a high level of cooperation and coordination between MAPWO provincial office, PED and DEDs for smooth implementation.
  • Provide necessary support to the team in the implementation of logistical requirements related in the YALBE Project at District level especially in the field in timely manner with no risk involved.
  • Conduct day to day monitoring of the YALBE courses at district and village level making sure the implementation is smooth and no major issues during implementation.
  • Establish Village Literacy Committee mobilize and train them on their role and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with local authorities during establishment and monitoring of the courses.
  • Pay a day to day visit to districts and monitoring courses, teachers’ attendance and parents’ issues during delivery of YALBE Literacy courses.
  • Any other task assigned by the PCM and provincial officer to facilitate the project implementation

Job Requirements

  • EDUCATION:   Graduate TTC, grade 14 in the relevant field, Bachelor degrees are preferred.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 2 years experience in community mobilization, community development, government relations, and field-level coordination
  • SKILLS: 
  • Good Coordination and Communication Skills
  • Team player
  • Commitment to MAPWO rules and procedure
  • Good Delegation, Prioritization, and Problem-Solving skills
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Able to handle pressure and workload
  • Great understanding of government laws, procedures and bureaucracy
  • LANGUAGES:  Fluency in both Dari and Pashto languages is a must.
  • GEOGRAPHY  Based in districts of Paktika (Yahya Khel, Jani Khel, Omna, Sorobi, Mata khan)  and Wardak(Said Abad, Chak, Nerkh, Jalrez, Hesa Awal Behsod) province, will need to travel regularly to villages of their respective districts and visit project sites and classes.
  • Note: The permanent residents of relevant districts will be considered and shortlisted.
