About The Move Against Poverty of Women Organization - MAPWO

Move Against Poverty of Women Organization (MAPWO) is a not-for-profit, non-political, and non-governmental humanitarian organization. MAPWO was established in 2016 to work alongside other national and international partners for provision of education, health, and other social services aiming to reach the most unreached and highly underserved pockets of the society and women empowerment focusing on alleviating the sufferings of the most vulnerable groups of the society in different community structures such as rural, urban, IDPs, returnees, etc. Since its establishment, MAPWO has worked hard to implement projects that ensure people’s access to quality and equitable education and health and other basic life services with focus on vulnerable group of society (women and girls).

Job Summary

The District Education Officer (DEO) will help implement and monitor MAPWO Education Project in district level. The aim of MAPWO Education program is to enable vulnerable, displaced, returnee and host community children and youth have access to quality education in a protective, save and inclusive environment. Community Based Education (CBE),) is the main components of Education Projects in target districts of Kabul and Logar province to provide opportunities to enroll out of school children to the CBE classes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take active role in community mobilizations/ sensitizations to increase community participation in project implementation through engaging the community in activities and facilitating the community understanding of the overall project (goals and objectives).
  • Conduct capacity building trainings for CBE teachers, School Management Shura (SMS) members and prepare training reports.
  • Ensure child friendly space and learning atmosphere established in all CBE classes and provide support for CBE teachers on their professional/academic career.
  • Prepare agenda for all coordination meetings with project stakeholder CBE Teacher, hub school head teacher/principle, SMS and DED officials.
  • Prepare memorandum of understanding with School Management Shuras (SMS) for better implementation of project activities and update yearly and being accountable on drop outs.
  • Take the active role on quality implementation of education activities in technical components of Community Based Education (CBE) and School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Take active role of handover process of CBE classes to hub school and ensure all required documents provided according to the CBE policy.
  • Regular monitoring from project implementation specially CBE classes and organize joint monitoring visits with DED staff from CBE classes.
  • Review and verify the teacher monthly reports and provide summary of improvements/challenges/gaps for education team leader/coordinator.
  • Ensure all required materials (Student’s kit, teacher kit, classroom kit, hygienic kits and textbooks) provided in CBE classes.
  • Take responsibility to collection and handover the collected text books to the relevant hub schools.
  • Cooperate with support unit staff on recruitments, procurements, contracts, payments and stock management.
  • Prepare SMART weekly plan and being accountable for the implemented activities through provide means of verifications.
  • Prepare quarterly progress report to DED, weekly report, trainings report, meeting minutes and joint monitoring reports.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION:  

  • University degree in Education, Project Management, Business or Public Administration, or any other relevant field in social sciences. Master degree will be preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years’ experience (Master Degree), 5 years’ experience (Bachelor
  • Degree) in Education, planning and project management, CBE Program management, capacity building, field level coordination

LANGUAGES

  •  Fluency in both written and spoken, Dari and Pashto languages is a must.

Based in Logar (Pol-e-Alam, Baraki Barak, Kharwar, Charkh)

Kabul (Sarobi, Farza, Behsabz, Bagrami)

Supervision: The Education Officer will be supervised by the provincial Manager in Kabul and Logar
