The driver shall be a professional assigned to provide transportation services, in accordance with the project work plan, and shall perform other related duties as assigned in support of IFES’ work in Afghanistan.
The driver will perform the following tasks under the supervision of the IFES office manager and project director:
1. Maintain vehicle in a clean, safe and presentable condition inside and outside at all times. Fuel tank should be filled by driver on schedule and not restrain transportation services during business hours.
2. Operate the armored vehicle (AV) in accordance with motor vehicle laws and in a safe manner at all times.
3. Coordinate travel schedules with the office manager or project director to assure coverage for all trips planned by IFES representatives.
4. Perform other support tasks as assigned by the office manager or project director, including but not limited to: running errands, changing money, copying papers, obtaining and delivering supplies and materials, moving furniture, assistance with expatriate personal and work requirements, etc.
5. Keep driveway and parking area clean, including sweeping of driveway.
6. Pass IFES driving test and security training as needed.
7. Promote cordial personal and professional relationships with all members of the IFES staff, consultants, and visitors.
8. Provide general assistance to the office manager, project director and any other IFES representatives upon request.
9. Provide airport pick up and drop off, and other related services to IFES representatives (e.g., timely arrivals and departures, assistance with luggage, etc.). Check at the respective agencies on flight schedules (arrival and departure time), and ensure timeliness of airport pickup and drop off.
10. Perform other general duties as assigned.
The drivers will report to the office manager via the project director.
1. A current driver’s license;
2. At least 1 year of professional work experience;
3. Experience driving an armored vehicle (AV);
4. High degree of motivation, dedication and initiative to complete tasks on time and with limited oversight;
5. Excellent knowledge of Dari/Pashto;
