About Watan Development and Initiative Organization (WDIO)

Watan Development and Initiative Organization (WDIO) was established in 2014 while it was reregistered with the Ministry of Economy on the same date it was established. WDIO was again registered with the government of Afghanistan in 2023 on registration # 3120. It is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and independent organization. The (WDIO) is an initiation of senior Afghan staff, specific professionals from different fields of activities, and other national and international organizations with many years of working experience in Afghanistan's normal and emergency state. The aim of the founders of (WDIO) is to transfer the experiences and expertise from several international organizations to an Afghan organization in order to ensure the sustainability of efforts as well as provide opportunities for Afghans to use their full potential in humanitarian and development activities. WDIO works in partnership with government, development, and implementing partners in the following four fields; Education, Agriculture and livestock, Health, and social affairs. WDIO will try its best to capacitate Afghans and other professionals in the mentioned four fields of services.

WDIO is committed to applying a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards acts of sexual exploitation and abuse by its personnel. In 2003, the United Nations Secretary-General issued a Bulletin on “Special measures for protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse” (ST/SGB/2003/13) (“the Bulletin”). To support the system-wide implementation of the zero-tolerance policy, the Director-General has decided to adopt the standards of conduct and provisions on PSEA set by the Bulletin, adjusted as necessary, to be applied by WDIO personnel, as follows.

Job Summary

Education Officer is responsible for implementing the education activities including but not limited to Community Based Education (CBE), Accelerated Learning Program (ALP), Mosque Based Education (MBE), Early Learning Centers (ELC), Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) classes for targeted beneficiaries, community mobilization, teaching and managerial skill development for school teachers and to direct beneficiaries/students to receive their need base/emergency education.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Officer should work closely with the Provincial Education Coordinator on all aspects of the project implementation:
  • Under the overall technical and administrative direction of the Provincial Education Coordinator assist in project planning and implementation including school assessment teacher recruitment teacher training and awareness to children's caregivers.
  • Undertake training needs assessments for project staff teachers with the assistance of Project Teacher Trainers in the province.
  • Develop & organize on-the-job refresher training to address any gaps and build the capacity of individuals and departments targeted by the project.
  • Design training for the beneficiaries in accordance with the approved proposal of the projects.
  • Evaluate regularly the impact of all conducted training.
  • Coordinate the monitoring of the activities according to the approved activities schedule.
  • Producing initial reports of the activities and sharing these reports in a timely manner.
  • Keep a record of the project do the proper data collection and file accordingly.
  • Assist in the recruitment of project staff and project field staff in coordination with PEC and relevant policies.
  • Engaging the community in activities establishing Community Advisory Boards and facilitating the community's understanding of the overall project.
  • Coordination with relevant government departments in the province including the provincial education department district education departments and department of the economy.
  • Keep the perfect record and filing system of the project activities and do the proper data collection.
  • Supporting the unit head in the implementation of another educational project.
  • Conduct field visits to WDIO-targeted areas.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly result-based progressive reports to the relevant line Ministry of Education Ministry and clusters.
  • Inspire staff to excel in their jobs while also achieving goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Preparing and coordinating daily plans and activities that contribute to the objective of the project.
  • Regular and on-need field visits from the project site.
  • On-time reporting of the overall activities being undertaken at the field level to the field Coordinator.
  • Monitoring and supervision of the activities at the field level and sharing the findings with the Project manager and relevant staff for improvement.
  • Any other tasks assigned by his line supervisor or the Education Specialist and accountable to the senior management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Teacher Education, School Improvement/School Effectiveness), development studies, social science, and related fields.
  •  at least 3 years of specific related experience and 2 years of general experience in the community.
  • Good communication skills particularly in the local language (Dari/Pashtu)
  • Speaking and writing ability in English
  • Good knowledge in the Child education system in Afghanistan
  • Having experience working with Government and non-government organizations
  • Ensure reports and other reports from concerned supervisors with qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Skill of implementing activities in coordination with the District Education Department, other Govt. officials, local elected bodies, NGOs, project experts, and concerned community members Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  •  Organizational and time management skills are needed to ensure programs are completed by the scheduled time.
  • Ability to organize and conduct different seminars, and workshops for teacher and staff development.
  • Employee must be able to adjust technical language and presentation skills for audiences of all levels.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to work with a variety of people throughout the organization.
  • Honest judgment for assessing staff performance and capacity building of staff for smooth implementation of the program.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be honest and responsible.
