Job Summary

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: To support the work of ACG, a telecom service provider in Afghanistan, in 3 fields:
1) Electrical design, CAD and engineering services;
2) Renewable energy design and deployment;
3) Management of an electrical workshop and warehouse.

Duties & Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Electrical system design, including offices and telecom sites, UPS systems, battery back-up systems, stabilizers and generators;
2) Maintaining data base of electrical systems;
3) Electrical schematics using CAD;
4) Trouble-shooting electrical problems;
5) Control panel design, including automated changeover systems;
6) Development of remote monitoring systems;
7) Electrical design of solar and wind power systems, including circuit breaker and wire sizing; configuration of electronic equipment; and integration with battery banks and back-up diesel generator sets.
8) Hands-on use of hand tools, power tools and field related mechanical and construction activities;
9) Hands-on control and power wiring;
10) Willingness to teach others, and learn from them;
11) Management of electrical workshop and activities;
12) Management of electrical warehouse and related equipment.

Job Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Afghan National;
2) Degree in Electrical Engineering;
3) 3 years of field experience;
4) Knowledge of NEC standards;
5) Practical, hands-on wiring experience;
6) Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and related DC systems;
7) Experience in management, particularly in regards to warehousing;
8) Fully computer literate;
9) Fluency in Dari, Pashtu and English;
10) Good interpersonal skills;
11) Determined, creative, adventurous and inquisitive spirit, and sense of humor.

GENERAL: Self starter, enthusiasm and creativity, willingness to work in difficult and uncertain operating environment, and also the position will be required to travel to all project areas in the Kandahar and near Provinces.
