The position of Electrical Substation Design Engineer involves developing and delivering Primary system designs and maintaining standards for high voltage system. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to create efficient and robust electrical designs for medium and high voltage substations.
· Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate the overall design package and requirements.
· Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making adaptations and modifications as needed.
· Perform data analysis and routine engineering tasks, calculations, and studies to develop preliminary and detailed designs for large and small projects.
· Review and approve design documents, drawings, and test reports.
· Provide engineering support for proposals, estimating, procurement, and construction.
· Conduct project detailed designs aligned with requirements and best practice standards.
· Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and Design Phase Managers to successfully deliver design projects.
· Verify that construction aligns with electrical engineering design drawings.
· Perform routine engineering work using standard techniques and procedures.
· Assist in developing and evaluating technical requirements for fabrication and construction tender packages.
· Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare and present findings.
· Assist field personnel in resolving unanticipated site conditions.
· Build effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
· Perform any other duties as assigned.
· Bachelor’s degree in Power/Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
· Working knowledge of relevant software packages.
· Minimum three years of related experience.
· Experience with industrial high-voltage power supply.
· Proficiency in complex grid calculations using specific software.
· Preparation of bill of quantity, wiring diagrams, and other required drawings.
· Good Knowledge of ETAP software.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Dialux software.
· Competence in office software (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
· Knowledge of international regulations and standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO, BS, DIN, etc.).
· Fluent English (reading, writing, and speaking on technical topics).
