Job Summary

The mission is to Coordinate and manage the roll out of transmission infrastructure related to BTS, Core network, Interconnection, on air of 2G & 3G sites as well as Hybrid Systems and miscellaneous internal operational requirements within an assigned region

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate the installation of indoor and outdoor equipments with Vendor according MTNA specs

Responsible for commissioning, testing & troubleshooting of Transmission equipments e.g. IDUs/ Traffic Nodes/ ODUs/ Radio Units, MW Antennas etc

Responsible for on air & upgrade of MW links/ backbones

Responsible for commissioning, testing & troubleshooting of 2G/ 3G BTSs (2206/ 2116/ 2306/ 6102/ 6601 etc).

Responsible for on-air & upgrade of 2G and 3G sites

Coordinate Transmission infrastructure to friendship centers and Switch centers and MTN buildings

Coordinate the roll out of MTN backbones within the region

Coordinate interconnection with other operators based on requirements, corporate clients and GSM service providers within the region

Coordinate installation of optical fiber network

Responsible for installation, commissioning, testing, trouble shooting and hand over to vendor for maintenance

Providing technical guidance to colleagues and to other teams

Finding creative solutions to the challenges of network design, mobile communications, data service requirements, internet and network signaling protocols

Providing inputs on errors in work packs/ templates if any for improvement

liaising with internal and external suppliers

Working in extremely pressured and hostile environment to meet daily challenges and tight schedule

Re-writing or modifying processes to ensure all aspects of the service run smoothly and on schedule

Report to Direct Supervisor about the engineering implementation progress

Preparing and follow up of travel expenses, work of statements for the mission

Responsible for installations and commissioning, implementation, testing and troubleshooting of Hybrid System

Implementation of all tasks related to network assigned by planning department

Any other task(s) as assigned by the supervisor

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks:

Supervise contractors work carried out in installation of equipment in sites, RBSCs, and Switches

Supervise cleaning and labeling of equipment

Supervising staff reporting

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelors degree in Telecom from a recognized university

Experience:

3 - 5 years experience in Technical field

Ericsson AXE /or EWSD switching experience is desirable

Microwave systems installation

Fiber optic transmission

Network Transmission systems

PC literacy and send / receive emails and report

Training:

GSM System Delivery

Synchronization planning course

2G and 3G rollout training

Transmission/MW training
