The English to Dari Translator will work under direct supervision of Project Manager. S/he will submit an inception report that should include work plan for 12 months within four weeks after joining. The translator shall submit a report before 5th of every month detailing the activities carried out with reference to work plan. In addition he/she will also submit quarterly monitoring reports
1.Duration of the Assignment:
The assignment will be initially for 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance at the end of the first 3-months probationary period. After 12 months, subject to a complete performance review, availability of funding; and the circumstances of the Ministry of Education prevailing at that time, an extension to the contract may be considered

Duties and Responsibilities
2.
Provide interpretation and translation of international instruments, educational materials and other legal documents into local languages primarily for the use of Afghan justice officials and others;
3.
Assist in setting the standards for translation from Dari and Pashtu;
4.
Coordinate with other translation units at curriculum dept to advance Afghan legal translation capacity;
5.
Translate drafts and documents from Dari into English and vice versa (English into Dari), mainly for use within project team and meetings;
6.
Translate legal documents of international origin from English into Dari and from Dari into English;
7.
Translate assessment reports from Dari into English. Translate the final project report and its components from Dari into English and from English into Dari, as needed;
8.
When required, to act as ad hoc interpreter in meetings, conferences and in writing, according to needs;
9.
Any other task assigned by the Project Manager
1.
Candidates should have at least a Bachelor Degree in English Literature/TOEFL from a recognized university or institute. Preference will be given to an applicant with a formal degree in English and a professional translating experience;
2.
Candidates must have at least 3-5 Years of experience working as a professional translator;
3.
Strong command in editing and experience in producing fluent and accurate text in Dari and English;
4.
Demonstrated writing and translating skills;
5.
Willingness and ability to work in a team collaboratively;
6.
Demonstrated Communication and interpersonal skills;
7.
Since the books are prepared for the students it should be understandable and fluent;
8.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and typing skills;
9.
Teamwork: Proven leading and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-agency environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
10.
Ability to handle effectively multiple tasks without compromising the quality, team spirit and constructive working relationships with all colleagues.
11.
Ability to actively seek and improve services, offer new and different options/initiatives to solve problems/meet client needs, promote and persuade others to consider new ideas.
12.
Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate and train Govt. staff; and commitment to perform any other related tasks as may be assigned by a supervisors and other authorities;
13.
Time flexibility, the translator may required to work over time or weekends due to needs of the high authority and ASDP project;
