Job Summary

Examinations form an important element of the British Council’s operation in Afghanistan, creating opportunities for thousands of young people in the country.

The purpose of this job is to support British Council Examinations Services in order to meet country strategic objectives. The main focus of this post is administration, customer service and promotion of exams in line with agreed standards and to the satisfaction of customers and management.

Duties & Responsibilities

Exams Delivery and Administration

to assist Exams Team in conduct of all exams (IELTS, Professional Exams, School Exams and University Exams) in compliance with the British Council’s global exams quality standards (EQS) and exam boards’ regulations.

to provide best level of customer service in handling enquiries.

to meet all EQS standards in delivering agreed services to exam candidates.

to effectively manage pre-test and post-test administration processes.

to deal with IELTS speaking exams off-site and marking sessions at the test centre.

to maintain proper filing system for all exam records (test day reports, speaking record sheets, jagged result records, writing scripts, speaking records) updated in the secured storage at all times.

to take additional responsibilities as assigned by Examinations Services Manager.

Financial Administration

to process the payment of markers, invigilators, examiners, other service providers and exam boards and follow up to ensure the payment is made accurately according to the agreed schedules.

to check financial records and reconcile all transactions on a monthly basis and to report any discrepancies or issues in the financial reports / cash receipts to Examinations Services Manager immediately.

to adhere the British Council policy in collection and handling of cash payments

to perform SAP related duties in support of exam activities

Customer Service & Communication

to have clear understanding and able to handle specialised enquiries about examinations and processes when required

to handle complaints efficiently and familiar with feedback procedures.

to liaise with schools, institutions and examining bodies as necessary

to meet EQS standards

to be in close contact with Customer Service Assistant.

Job Requirements

Essential skills, knowledge and experience include:

a. High Schools Graduate
b. At least 2 years experience in administration of a large scale customer-focused operation
c. Good spoken and written English and excellent communication skills in English as well as Dari and/or Pashto.
d. Strong administrative skills and good computer skills
e. Basic financial management skills
f. Proven ability to work with minimal supervision

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience include:

g. Bachelors Degree or equivalent
h. Prior experience of delivering specific products/services in large scale
i. Knowledge of UK qualifications

English language proficiency + Basic IT skills
