Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader, the Field Officer will be responsible for quality implementation of ERM activities in Balkh and Jawzjan.
The position requires 80 % field work which will be performed together with other ERM employees.
Field officers work in teams of at least two.
Field work is usually carried out for one day only, returning to the duty station in the afternoon.
All field activity is subject to security assessments according to the context done by PIN’s security
Main tasks
To implement emergency activities (needs assessments, distributions):
o Often done within a very short timeframe and requires flexibility in working hours.
To follow-up the humanitarian and/or emergency situation within the provinces (monitoring):
o Field based surveys of individual households.
To develop PIN’s presence in the provinces:
o Trainings and awareness raising: Disaster Risk Reduction and Hygiene;
o Develop a network of community focal points;
o Participate in and supervise community participatory latrine constructions;
Information collection and sharing
To support the team in the collection of gender-based data in the selected areas.
To support the Team Leader to produce reports (assessment reports, activity reports, etc) according to developed formats
Internal Communication
To maintain regular and on-going communication with the ERM Team Leader and Programme Manager.
Assist and coordinate with other PIN programmes
At least two years of working experience in a relevant field
Previous experience in conducting needs and market assessments and focus group discussions
Previous experience in Emergency rapid response projects (including cash interventions)
Previous experience in Disaster Risk Reduction programmes
Previous experience in community training
Previous experience of working directly with communities (including problem-solving with beneficiaries)
Previous experience in working for an NGO - preferred
Ability to work independently
Proactive problem solution skills
Negotiation skills
Knowledge of humanitarian actors and principles - preferred
Information synthesis and report writing skills an advantage
Ability to adopt to working in remote areas with limited comfort
Good computer skills (Microsoft office package, internet) an advantage
Fluent in English (written, spoken, read). Fluent in Dari (written, spoken, read). – mandatory
Proficiency in Pashto preferred.
