Job Summary

RLS-Formal intends to complete a national survey of court users in Afghanistan and a survey of students of law and Shari’a faculty at selected universities across the country. These are comprehensive surveys performed according to rigorous scientific standards covering a broad range of justice and governance related topics. The surveys will interview respondents in all of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.

Duties & Responsibilities

Position Description:
RLS-Formal is looking for a short-term local national professional to serve as a Field Surveyor to participate in collecting data for these surveys. The Field Surveyor will travel to court houses and/or universities across Afghanistan to interview respondents and complete questionnaires as part of the surveys. He or she will be supervised and monitored by the Survey and Research Specialist.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Collect data for the RLS-Formal national survey of court users in Afghanistan and a survey of students of law and Shari’a faculty at selected universities across the country;

Validate proposed questionnaires through field testing before the rollout of the survey;

Interview respondents for the surveys, approaching potential respondents, assessing their willingness to participate in the survey, and completing survey questionnaires to collect data;

Travel to locations across Afghanistan’s 34 provinces as part of the survey process;

Perform basic quality assurance checks of the survey questionnaire forms before the Survey and Research Specialist tabulates the survey results; and,

Participate in other data collection activities as necessary.

Job Requirements

Ability to travel to specific districts and regions in Afghanistan. Some experience with reporting, drafting questionnaires and other data collection tools. Experience working for an NGO, international organization, UN Agencies and USAID-funded project is a plus.
