APFM, Multi Location
The Finance Senior Assistant will be responsible for tasks related to APFM project finance. Principle duties and responsibilities are listed below.
I. Reporting
The Finance Senior Assistant reports to the APFM Accounting/Finance Specialist or his/her designee.
II. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Verify vendor and local subcontractor invoices and ensure all supporting documents are received and accurate.
Assist logistics and procurement staff in cash disbursements of items paid in petty cash
Process travel advances to local and expatriate staff and follow-up on outstanding balances.
Conduct reviews of travel-related expenditures and accompanying expense reports to ensure necessary back-up documentation is in order and on file.
Deposit all withheld taxes such as wages, office rent, and tax withholding on contractors to Da Afghanistan Bank on a monthly or as needed basis.
Process wire transfers and assist in banking related activities.
Obtain required tax payment forms from the Afghanistan Revenue Department.
Provide forms verified by the Ministry of Finance to vendors as requested.
Ensure all financial documents are scanned and uploaded in Amazon cloud on a monthly basis and that proper back-up documentation is maintained.
Enter financial and payroll transaction into ABACUS and reconcile monthly bank reconciliations.
Maintain proper filing system and check the number of files in hard copy as per the monthly transaction details from ABACUS.
Maintain and replenish petty cash on regular basis and make sure proper back-up documentation is provided on time of clearance with procurement staff in the absence of cashier.
Any other tasks or duties assigned by the Accounting/Finance Specialist or his/her designee.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field plus at least 4 years of relevant experience OR 7 years of relevant experience.
Accounting experience.
Ability to write and verbally communicate clearly and concisely in English and Dari or Pashto.
Effective organizational and communication skills.
Computer spreadsheet/word processing skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Prior international donor experience preferred.
Knowledge of USAID rules, regulations, and procedures preferred.
