Her input will promote gender mainstreaming with in NABDP and at the community level through supporting the program and improving the status of rural women and contribute toward achieving the organization Goal and objective to support the program.
Terms of Reference
Gender Advisor (Projects)
Organize/conduct basic and thematic gender sessions for regional and provincial staff
Assist in developing a database of gender-sensitive project facilitating partners
Capacitate and guide the field staff and community mobilizer in implementing women-focused projects
Regularly provide learning materials for the gender focal points (components)
Identify gender training opportunities for the staff
Assist in reviewing and enhancing draft project proposals
Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of project implementation
Assist in the development of case studies and advocacy and learning materials
Coordinate closely with the provincial directorates of MRRD and MoWA and UNDP regional offices (as relevant)
Participate in the regional and national networks
Assist the Head of Gender Unit during missions
Assist in the maintaining and enhancing of projects implementation to ensure gender input and maintenance.
Support the central team in gender related issues
Education & Experience
University degree in Low, Sociology, Social Science or Public Administration.
At least three years of experience working in the field of gender, women’s rights or human rights, with experience working in an NGO.
Comprehensive understanding of gender issues in Afghanistan.
Demonstrated analytical planning, and monitoring Skill for the gender related issues.
Advanced facilitation, coordination and reporting skills.
Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
Excellent cross-cultural skills, ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural NGO environment, with respect, professionalism and gender sensitivity.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in the English and national languages of the duty station.
Advanced computer skills.
Reporting Obligations:
The Gender Officer will be reporting directly to regional Manager and head of Gender Unit.
