Harakat – Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility Organization is an Afghan-led, independent and non-profit organization, which aims at improving Afghanistan’s business, trade, investment enabling environment and the private sector. Harakat promotes inclusive economic development through boosting national trades, investments and industries, and regional economic growth and integration. Harakat works with the private sector, the Government of Afghanistan, civil society and the regional and international development and trade communities to deliver activities in reducing/removing barriers to businesses and industries in the country. Harakat aspires to strengthen industries across Afghanistan to create jobs, reducing poverty, sustaining fiscal income by increased collection of taxes, contributing to peace and stability in the country.

Job Summary

Harakat seeks to recruit five highly motivated and results-oriented Gender Specialists to join our teams. These positions will play a crucial role in integrating gender equality considerations across Harakat's programs and activities within the assigned Provinces.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Gender Specialists will be responsible for the following key activities:

• Conduct gender analyses to assess the needs and priorities of women and men in the assigned Provinces related to business development and economic opportunities.
• Develop and implement gender-responsive strategies to promote women's participation in economic activities supported by Harakat.
• Build the capacity of Harakat staff and partner organizations on gender equality concepts and mainstreaming strategies.
• Advocate for and promote policies and practices that create a more enabling environment for women entrepreneurs and businesses in the Provinces.
• Monitor and evaluate the gender impact of Harakat's programs and activities.
• Prepare reports and presentations on gender equality issues related to Harakat's work.
• Collaborate with the Business Development Specialists and other relevant staff to ensure gender integration throughout program implementation.
• Participate in relevant training and capacity-building activities

Job Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• three (3) or more years of relevant experience in gender mainstreaming, program development, and/or women's economic empowerment.
• Proven track record of conducting gender analyses and developing gender-responsive interventions.
• Strong understanding of gender equality concepts and principles within the Afghan context.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dari and Pashto
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
