About NATO Afghanistan - Resolute Support

Resolute Support is a NATO-led, non-combat mission. It was launched on January 1, 2015, following the conclusion of the previous NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission, and the assumption of full security responsibility by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). Its purpose is to help the Afghan security forces and institutions develop the capacity to defend Afghanistan and protect its citizens in a sustainable manner. The mission performs supporting functions in several areas. These include: operational planning; budgetary development; force generation process; management and development of personnel; logistical sustainment; and civilian oversight (in order to ensure the Afghan security forces and institutions act in accordance with the rule of law and good governance).

Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for providing all general construction work and special requests as needed to support and maintain NATO facilities and infrastructure on the compound which supports the command and control mission of HQ RS and the sustainment of the base population. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Performs duties as necessary for maintenance and in support of engineering operation.

Performs basic maintenance and repair work.

Performs other duties as required.

The incumbent may be required to perform duties as directed.

Job Requirements

2 years’ experience in engineering such as, but not limited to, construction, structural engineering, and concrete work.

Knowledge of a variety of construction trades.

High School with some private training with licensing being achieved.

Language: English: Good level of written and spoken language skills. Note: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English. 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with many different trades.

2-5 years’ experience with heavy equipment such as scoop loader, forklift, excavator, and crane.

Adaptability in doing several types of manual tasks.

Additional Remarks:

An initial 12 month contract will be offered and contract extensions may be possible. Because of the dynamic environment, RS posts are under regular review and therefore post details and responsibilities, including contract duration and contractual grade may change during the advertising and contractual period. 

Benefit Package:

Monthly salary of € 508.00 Meal Allowance of € 185.00 per month
