Main Job Purpose:
To manage operations on the two stations including program development and evaluation, staff and resource management, personnel capacity building/training, marketing and sales relations of ARMAN FM and ARAKOZIA FM
Main Responsibilities of Job:
1. ARAKOZIA FM launch and operations
To develop and manage the operations, content and schedule and branding for MOBY's newest station ARAKOZIA FM in line with target audience. Work alongside Afghan nationals to empower their management of station. Hire and develop other radio staff to support station success, operations and sustainability. Work with MOBY sales team to build viable sales approach. Accountable to CEO, Chairman or Board as appropriate.
2. ARMAN FM re-launch and operations
To develop and manage the operations, content and schedule and re-branding for MOBY's oldest media property ARMAN FM, including market segmentation in line with competition. Work alongside Afghan nationals to empower their management of station. Hire and/or develop other radio staff to support station's expanded operations and sustainability. Work with MOBY sales team to extend sales effort. Incorporate and teach new industry skills as needed. Accountable to CEO, Chairman or Board as appropriate.
3. Business Development - Content
Working with the MOBY Group Business Development Team, promote stations through new content development ideas.
4. Project Management
Oversee the radio-related projects and the work of radio-related project staff. Set appropriate quality standards and timeline adherence.
5. Technical Advice
Provide technical guidance and strategy, as known, to MOBY Technical Department for radio operations, including transmission, studio, and software equipment approach, selection, layout, and integration.
6. Skills Enhancement
Build capacity of radio staff through structured ongoing skills transfer and capacity building. Provide mentoring to staff on interviews; topics; guests. Train on logistics, studio, call in, live broadcasts.
7. Management
Supervise the work of radio managers and teams.
8. Topic networking
Engage with industries affecting programming to remain informed on news, events, trends to impact programming and train staff on how to follow industry issues and how to report on them.
9. Any other duties as appropriate to the position, as requested
Financial Authority
As per the Moby Group Policy and Levels of Authority Rules.
Note:
The primary location for work is in the Lapis offices in Kabul, Afghanistan. Travel may be required to other Moby Group operations in other countries. Travel to other locations within Afghanistan may be necessary from time to time.
•You will be educated to degree level, and able to demonstrate your ability in all elements of a Radio. You will have excellent communication skills, and you will be able to interface with stakeholders internally from a junior level up to board and director level.
• Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to make decisions that impact customer service levels with a sense of urgency
• Excellent command on English (written and spoken both).
