Job Summary

ACF is recruiting 1 Head of Program to manage a LRRD project in Ashterlay District in Day Kundi Province. The Head of Program will be based in Nili.

Duties & Responsibilities

Objective 1 : Understand and Analyze the Food Security Situation in the region

Collect and analyse information on food security and local livelihood systems;

Propose responses to these needs ;

Participate actively in the development of a food security strategy ;

Define agriculture and livestock activities in line with local capabilities;

Contribute towards drawing up project proposals ;

Objective 2 : Implement food security project and farming activities:

Organize and supervise the implementation of identified activities in coordination with other departments ( logistics and admin);

Define implementation modalities (identification and registration of beneficiaries, distribution, training, awareness, monitoring etc.);

Ensure relevance of activities related to agriculture and livestock

Ensure the quality of farming inputs (responsible for testing)

Regularly assess the relevance and appropriateness of the activities based on the context and needs of the population;

Finalize the internal and external activity reports by those in charge of the projects (M&E).

Objective 3: Supervise the team

Recruit and train team members, especially in agriculture;

Plan and coordinate the team’s activities;

Identify the training needs;

Carry out appraisals of the team members.

Job Requirements

Agronomist or agriculture engineer (applicants with no agriculture/food security background will NOT be selected)

Previous experience in humanitarian and/or development

Experienced with team management and planning

Good pedagogical skills to train your team.

Strong analytical skills

Flexibility is requested regarding the working hours

Dynamic and pro-active

Good organization capacity and leadership skills.

Fluency in Dari, Pashto and English

Good level in computer: Word, Excel, Sphinx is a plus
