Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of Provincial Manager, the Horticulture is responsible for handling of agriculture activities as directed by his/her supervisors for ARD ADP/SW.

Duties & Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Implementation of horticulture project according to the work plans;
• Evaluation of the needs of the farmers in the target areas, and selection of the beneficiaries;
• Technical designing of orchards layout based farm location;
• Technical supervision from all orchards layout activities in targeted districts;
• Design training curriculum and materials;
• Technical training of horticulture staff such as gardeners, farmers, especially for subjects related to orchards, nurseries and greenhouses;
• Follow best practices in orchards, nurseries and sapling distribution activities;
• Controlling technical activities such as irrigation, weeding, pruning, grafting as well as preparing grafting materials on time;
• Conducting the training for the farmers in the field and training center;
• Follow up of extension workers and team leaders in the field;
• Writing monthly work activity reports;
• Liaise with the rural development department and NGOs working in the field of agriculture.
• Any other task assigned by your supervisor

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)


EDUCATION: B.S. in Forestry or Horticulture/Agriculture faculty.







WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2-3 years experience in an equivalent position with international organizations. Experience in the management of development programs. Project management experience in related to agriculture, horticulture, livestock, agri-business development, and cash-for-work programs in. Good managerial and supervisory skills to supervise and manage national team. Work experience in USAID funded project a plus.


SKILLS: To be able to organize the training programs as per requirement of the project Working knowledge of English. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team. Must also be able to create a supportive working relationship among all project teams.



LANGUAGES: Spoken and written Dari, Pashto, English.




GENERAL: Tactfulness, enthusiasm for the job, good human relation skills, integrity, and ability to work under pressure.
