We seek someone who can show a demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly; have the ability to be able to remain calm under pressure and deal with last minute schedules effectively and efficiently. You possess a ‘can do’ approach at all times, and an outgoing “people orientated†personality. You must also be a team player with excellent communication skills and a superior attention to detail.
Furthermore, we seek an organized and highly efficient Agronomist who is professional at the highest level, a multi-tasking expert who is calm, collected and a real team player.
Proven agricultural experience at intermediate level in a similar environment is essential. Advanced MS Office skills are also essential. Excellent organization, communication and people skills are also pre-requisites.
• Plan, design and establish fruit and non fruit nurseries
• Ability to assess and analyze the environmental factors affecting viability and extension of horticultural projects
• Plan, design and establish orchards, vineyard, vegetable and ornamental plants projects
• Design, establish and manage vegetable green houses
• Plan and design intercropping and organic farming systems
• Maintain communication with the ministry of agriculture, livestock and irrigation
• Closely work with national and international agencies working in agricultural field
• Take active role to develop policies and draft strategies for the department
• Work with the department team to identify the priorities and take role for their performance
• Ability to prepare different project documents such as ToR and RFP for relevant project.
• Assist to prepare agricultural development plan and business strategy for Barikab
• Prepare the reports over the progress of the projects in which he/she is responsible
• At least bachelor degree in horticulture from a recognized university or a professional agricultural certificate from a professional school. Higher degree in the relevant field will be an advantage;
• Have deep knowledge and skills of horticultural Science;
• Have appropriate knowledge and skills about soil, water and plant relationship
• Three years working experience with government or private agencies or institutions working in the horticulture and horticulture development program, particularly related to the above duties and responsibilities
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently
• Good knowledge and skills in computer software particularly Microsoft office
• Familiarity with AutoCAD program will be an asset.
• Fluency in Dari and Pashto is required. Knowledge of English will be an asset.
