We are looking for House Officers in the following departments: Neurology; Neurosurgery; Complex Spine Surgery; Psychiatry; Orthopedics & Traumatology; ENT, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Rheumatology, and Emergency Medicine. These positions are part of the new development in a well-known neuroscience's hospital, located in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Job Summary

The House Officer is an essential member of the Neurosciences Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan, responsible for supporting the delivery of safe and high-quality healthcare services to patients under the supervision of senior doctors. We are seeking a highly capable and motivated individual who can effectively assist in both outpatient and inpatient settings, contributing to clinical care, documentation, and patient education.

In this role, you will provide direct patient care, participate in clinical procedures, and support multidisciplinary teams in ensuring best practices across all service areas, including the Outpatient Department (OPD) and Inpatient Department (IPD). You will also be expected to maintain clinical records, attend medical meetings, and uphold the highest standards of patient service and safety.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist patients under the supervision of senior physicians, particularly in the OPD.
  • Ensure comprehensive patient histories and examinations are taken and documented before senior doctor consultations.
  • Support the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of medical care across multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with physicians in diagnosis, treatment planning, and direct patient care.
  • Monitor post-operative patients daily, including dressing changes and drain follow-up.
  • Conduct physical examinations and provide follow-up care where necessary.
  • Educate patients about medication usage, health maintenance, and disease prevention.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for patients when appropriate, within the limits of training and supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts, medical documentation, and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, senior doctors, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in staff meetings, medical training sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Assist with referrals, patient follow-ups, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager to support medical operations.


Job Requirements

Education and Qualifications:

  • MD Diploma or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a national/private hospital.
  • Experience in OPD, inpatient care, and familiarity with OT and surgical procedures.
  • Good knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization, and autoclave use.
  • Knowledge of the local healthcare context and intervention area.
  • High flexibility in assignments and work settings.

Language Requirements:

  • Good Pashto – spoken, reading, and writing.
  • Good Dari – spoken, reading, and writing.
  • Good English – spoken, reading, and writing.
