Job Summary

Winrock International is a major partner with the International Resources Group (IRG) team that has been awarded a contract by the USAID to carry out the project, “Afghanistan Clean Energy Program (ACEP)”. ACEP targets installation of hundreds of renewable energy systems in rural areas with community involvement, improving energy efficiency in urban areas and supporting formulation of favourable policy in the clean energy sector and developing adequate in-country capacity for overall clean energy sector development. ACEP has active MHP Projects in Badakshan, Bamiyan, Kunar, Panjshir, and Parwan Provinces. ACEP commenced on September 8, 2009 and is planned for 4 years.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Hydropower Construction supervisor will be a full time country staff of Winrock and will function as part of the ACEP team. He will work to implement the Topchi mini-hydropower project under the Renewable Energy Component One of ACEP. The specific responsibilities are:
1. Supervision of the construction of Topchi mini-hydropower project (1 MW)
2. Supervision and training to the site supervisor/foreman for better site management
3. Organization and supervision to the site workers
4. Elaboration of drawings, if necessary
5. Keeping records of the consumption of site materials
6. Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly report on the progress of work and consumption of construction materials
7. Reporting to the technical head of the project

Job Requirements

• Diploma (3-years) engineering training in civil/construction engineering or 6 years of experience on construction site management after completion of higher secondary school
• Minimum three years of work experience in the field of hydropower construction
• “Hands-on attitude” as well as organizational and managerial capacities
• Fluent in Dari and English in both speaking and writing. Pashto a plus.
• Computer Skills (MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD)
