Introduction:

Treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is one of the key components of PND activities serviced through BPHS NGOS. It is primarily implemented in the emergency affected provinces where the prevalence of SAM is high. The services will be expanded as part of emergency response once there is emergency induced SAM cases. Therapeutic nutrition supplies (e.g F-75, F-100 and RUTF) are core elements of the services. PND manage the overall supply chain including forecasting, requesting, distributing and collecting the reports on a quarterly bases.

Job Summary

The main objective of this assignment is to support PND to manage quality IMAM services delivery as inpatient care and outpatient care. Also, to manage the therapeutic supply and minimize the nutrition supply stock outs through improved nutrition supply management system. The technical assistance will also be responsible for emergency related activities in PND including coordinating with Nutrition cluster.

Duties & Responsibilities


Purpose of the post:

The main objective of this assignment is to support PND to manage quality IMAM services delivery as inpatient care and outpatient care. Also, to manage the therapeutic supply and minimize the nutrition supply stock outs through improved nutrition supply management system. The technical assistance will also be responsible for emergency related activities in PND including coordinating with Nutrition cluster.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1-     Attend monthly nutrition cluster and sector coordination meetings and follow up the action points.

2-     As the IMAMWG co-chair organize technical meetings and follow up the action points.

3-     Collect, compile, analyse and disseminate IMAM reports to partners (monthly, quarterly and annually)

4-     Submit 3 months +1 nutrition therapeutic nutrition supply and equipment request (according to statistic) to UNICEF on time (one month advance).  

5-     Conduct the tracking of nutrition supplies released from UNICEF ACO warehouses to the concerned IPs/counterparts.

6-     Review the data on supplies received against total SAM children treated in that specified period.

7-     In collaboration with partners review performance of all IMAM programmes in the country and support partners to improve performance.

8-     In collaboration with partners periodically review the IMAM guidelines and ensure are in line with country context as well as global guidance

9-     Support PNOs in drafting Monitoring and supervision plans.

10- Conduct regular monitoring and supportive supervision of IMAM and other required nutrition programmes based on approved PND plan

11- Provide technical support and ensure IMAM related IEC materials, TV spots are produced and disseminated according to the plan

12- Plan and facilitate IMAM initial, refresher and on job training in consultation with head of PND. UNICEF.

13- Attend nutrition related meetings and workshops

14- Any other activities and tasks assigned by the supervisors

 

Selected Key Deliverable:

1.     IMAM supply plan developed and requested on time to UNICEF and enough SAM treatment supplies are available at the field level.

2.     IMAM monthly, quarterly and annual reports are collected, compiled, analysed and shared on time and follow up actions are completed.

3.     Attended all coordination meetings and related actions are followed up on time

4.     IMAM related communication action plan developed in coordination with health promotion/C4D department and activities are implemented.

5.     IMAM and other related nutrition programmes are monitored and supportive supervision plan developed and conducted. Required actions are accomplished.

6.     IMAM related training plan  developed and conducted.

7.     Other relevant and given activities are completed, reports submitted and follow up actions are done

Job Requirements

 MD Bachelor’ of Science with 4 years related experience 


·        Ability to prepare various operational plans of the organization or project.

·        Having specific skills in the related technical field.

·        Having experience and ability of team management and leadership.

·        Field work experience

·        Background/familiarity with Emergency with coordination and capacity building focus
