This position performs the design, engineering, and lead technician supervisory responsibility for technicians installing and maintaining all copper cabling technology associated with inside IT infrastructure projects.
Experience leading technicians on time sensitive projects
Experience with designing an ISP job in Visio, Auto Cad
Experience performing site surveys and design of ISP infrastructure
Experience splicing and testing copper cabling
Proactive and reactive ISP copper maintenance procedures
Install, terminate and maintain cable runs of CAT6 and RG6 for inside plant
Place cable in ceiling and floor system zones.
Install cable tray, conduit, communications racks and grounding systems.
Inside plant installation
Ability to work under stress and maintain professionalism
Install UPS systems
Cable lacing
CAT6 terminations and wiring
Maintain, install and splice CAT6 cable runs
MUST be willing to travel throughout Afghanistan
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to install ducts and conduits, pull cable, terminate, test, splice, and repair copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cable.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to install outside and interior copper, coaxial cabling, fiber cabling, fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog and digital copper patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames and supporting ground and power connections.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to install cabinets, cable ladder rack systems, and equipment components in the cabinets as required.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to conduct maintenance related to wiring, including copper (network and telephonic), fiber optic, and coaxial cabling inside of buildings, and outside wiring plant between the buildings.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to operate related tools and equipment.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to install and operate related computer systems.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other contractor employees and the customer.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to repeatedly lift up to 70 pounds, to include over head.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to repeatedly climb ladders or step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate ability to work in an “on-call” status.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both the general and specific aspects, and the technical phases of the job, and its practical application to complex problems and situations that ordinarily will be encountered.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, RG-6, and DB-25, V.35, RS-449 is a plus, but not required.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of fiber, Network topology, Network Protocols and Network Design.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of power testing and network tools such as a multi-meter and toner etc.
ISP Engineer must demonstrate a minimum of four years of relevant work experience in the ISP field and one year of formal, relevant, technical education relating to Physical Layer Operations. Applicant must possess a certificate in any discipline of IT and it is required in order to qualify to obtain a work visa in Afghanistan.
7 or more years of relevant technical experience.
Formal training and or University degree in the IT field.
BIC SI certification is a plus.
CCDA certification is a plus.
Microsoft Visio knowledge is required.
Microsoft Project knowledge is preferred, but not a requirement.
Autodesk AutoCAD knowledge is preferred, but not a requirement.
Other technical training or certification in the ICT field.
