GIZ, Multi Location
Internal Control Officer is part of the Internal Control Unit of the GIZ Office Kabul. The core of the Unit’s responsibilities is to conduct the annual IC activity for all GIZ operations in Afghanistan, in line with GIZ Orientation and Rules, O & R. To achieve this, the IC Officer:
1. Reads, understands and implements GIZ Orientation and Rules in his day to day work. He is required to continuously update his knowledge about GIZ O & R and GIZ Kabul office Policies and procedures on a regular basis. Makes sure the same are applied in all activities within GIZ.
2. Assists the unit manager in developing IC activity systems, processes and plans in accordance with the polices of GIZ Office Kabul.
3. Deputizes for the Unit manager in his absence. Represents the Unit Manager in meetings with project AVs and within the GIZ Office as well.
4. Assists the Unit Manager in the capacity building of the other staff in the unit, with particular attention to the Junior Internal Control Officers.
5. Assists the Unit Manager in, and conducts independently, annual IC activities, in accordance with the annual IC activity plans. This includes closing the reports, and following up on the recommendations in due time.
6. Maintains proper filing and records for the annual and semi-annual IC Unit Activities in line with GIZ filing structure.
7. Assists the Unit Manager in preparation of the annual IC reports: IC analysis for the year to the revision department in HQs, and annual IC monitoring to the Country Director.
8. Contributes to team building within the Unit and the whole office, acts professionally and adheres to the GIZ Code of Conduct.
9. Accomplishes any other task as maybe assigned by the Unit Manager or the Director of Admin and HR.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and more than two years direct experience in the field.
2. Experience of five years,in the field of Financial Management, Administration, Accounting and controlling could replace the University Degree and direct audit experience.
3. Excellent command over written and spoken English language. Knowledge of German Language is considered an advantage.
4. Good Reporting Writing Skills are necessary.
5. Working level knowledge of Ms Office.
6. The IC Officer must be able at all times willing to travel to all locations within Afghanistan. All GIZ Afghanistan Risk Management Guidelines are of course, considered before travels takes place, and during travels.
