Job Summary

The National Agriculture Education College (NAEC) is a new education centre specifically established to train teachers for agricultural high schools and institutes. NAEC is located in Chelsetun, Kabul and provides instruction for grades 13 and 14. The College will commence teaching at the start of the academic year 1391. The College works closely together with the Wageningen University & Research Centre in the Netherlands, and is now seeking an outstanding professional to become its Islamic Studies Teacher with an initial teaching load of about 8 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
2. Plans lessons and coordinates with other instructional staff.
3. Develops a deep knowledge of teaching materials relevant for use at the Institute level (grades 13 and 14) and explores the best ways in which to deliver content to students.
4. Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
5. Establishes and implements rules of discipline in accordance to the schools policies.
6. Sets clear targets and goals for teaching Islamic values and knowledge on a weekly basis.
7. Organizes extra-curricular activities related to Islamic events and holidays.
8. Completes all grading, creates weekly lesson plans and report cards in a timely manner.
9. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and staff on a regular basis in order to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
10. Models spiritual maturity in leading students towards Islam and spiritual growth.
11. Inculcates students with a sense of respect, order and self-discipline.
12. Assumes responsibility for and demonstrates gains in student performance.
13. Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating with others, etc.
14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Training.

Job Requirements

Undergraduate or higher degree in Arabic/Islamic Sciences or equivalent degree and/or experience.

One to two years teaching experience.

Well acquainted with the Afghan educational system

A willingness to share and portray Islamic mannerisms and way of living.

Educational certification a plus.

Speak and write Dari fluently, speak Pashto fluently

Proficient in spoken and written English

A solid team player
