Move Against Poverty of Women Organization (MAPWO) is a not-for-profit, non-political, and non-governmental humanitarian organization. MAPWO was established in 2016 to work alongside other national and international partners for provision of education, health, and other social services aiming to reach the most unreached and highly underserved pockets of the society and women empowerment focusing on alleviating the sufferings of the most vulnerable groups of the society in different community structures such as rural, urban, IDPs, returnees, etc. Since its establishment, MAPWO has worked hard to implement projects that ensure people’s access to quality and equitable education and health and other basic life services with focus on vulnerable group of society (women and girls).

Job Summary

We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database Assistant that is capable of holding positions of great responsibility. In this role, you'll be the first respondent to database problems that arise and carry out data collection, data entry, data cleaning, data analyzing and to provide meaningful data insights.

To ensure success as a database Assistant, you should be an excellent problem-solver and communicator that is fluent in most data manipulation languages. Ultimately, a top-notch database Assistant should have extensive knowledge of the databases under their assistance and display sound technical skills.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help with database management tasks, such as data collection from the field through data collection tools, data entry, data cleaning, data manipulation, data analyzing and provide meaningful data insights.
  • Write SQL queries to retrieve specific data from databases for analysis or reporting purposes.
  • Analyze data by mode, median, average and mean.
  • Create spreadsheets to track important projects data.
  • Help clean and maintain databases by identifying and rectifying errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies in data.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Database & IT systems and applications such as Kobo tool.
  • Assist in setting up and testing backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data against loss or corruption.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to resolve technical issues and implement system upgrades.
  • Participate in IT projects and initiatives, such as system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to develop and implement IT solutions.
  • Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of network devices & systems.
  • Design portraits and elements for social media and website, design Note Book/Book covers, design ID Cards, and other necessary materials.
  • Help in the documentation of IT and database processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides and policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
  • Perform other IT and database-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science.

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

1 Year experience.

 

Skills:

Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop, or PostgreSQL.

Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Highly organized, responsible, punctual, reliable, well prepared.

Capable of working under pressure.

Good prioritization skills.

Flexibility and adaptability.

Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in database & IT technologies.

 

Languages:

Fluency in both written and spoken English, Dari and Pashto languages.

Duty Station: Based in Kabul, will need to travel to provinces on need basis.
