Junior Configuration Manager is responsible to work in close coordination with the development team to support application builds and deployments from development through production. The Candidate must be excellent listener, possess outstanding facilitation and conflict-resolutions skills, and the ability to work in collaborative environments.
Provides junior level support to configuration management planning of IT operations/activities.
Describes provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting and configuration audits.
Manage configuration change control – supports the change process so that only approved and validated charges are incorporated into product documents and related software
Identify and collect data associated with the configuration management system and maintain the database.
Monitor contractor’s configuration management systems and perform audits to assure ISO compliance coordinate, record and document activities of the Configuration Control Board (CCB).
Track Configuration Control Requests (CCR).
Responsible for validating and maintaining operational control of Production system configurations and software baselines.
Coordinates with technical leads Release Managers to schedule system downtimes and release schedules and ensure proper configuration control of all system changes.
Experience in building and releasing software applications in a controlled environment with an understanding of full life-cycle configuration management activities, while performing related system administration activities.
Proficient in developing and implementing configuration management processes.
Working knowledge of software change control best practices and methodologies.
Understanding of configuration management's role in a development environment.
Experience with configuration management tools as an administrator, preferably Tortoise Subversion
Ability to interpret technical material.
Experience and understanding of object oriented programming preferred.
Solid understanding and experience with version control systems, change management systems and documentation management systems; such as Serena Business Manager, Remedy
Good understanding and experience with scripting such as SQL, Shell and Ant
Experience with compilers and cross compiling
Experience with Red Hat Based-Linux, 32-bit and 64-bit; RPM spec file creation and administration; managing Red Hat based package repositories
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information systems Management, Computer Engineering or a related area.
Advanced knowledge of Linux system will be preferred.
Relevant certification in database management.
3-5 years of experience in administering large Linux based databases and of the design,
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent client-facing skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to deal with difficult callers.
Logical thinker.
Up-to-date technical knowledge.
An in depth understanding of the software and equipment that clients/employees are using.
Good accurate records keeping.
