Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The Translator reports to the Translation Manager in Kabul and supports the Project team in all activities related to translation and interpretation from English to Dari/Pashto and from Dari/Pashto to English.

Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the incumbent include but not limited to:

•Provide translation services, including written, oral, and simultaneous for program activities, including remote trainings and workshops.

•Provide translation services as needed for program support, logistics, and administration.

•Translation of laws into English, Pashto, and/or Dari languages

•Support organization for relevant meetings, appointments, conferences, workshops, seminars and etc for program staff;

•Maintain close working relationship with different project teams located in Kabul and in the provinces;

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)


EDUCATION:College education. Coursework in Legal English.

WORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 3 years experience in an equivalent position with International organizations. Strong background providing written, oral, and simultaneous translation, including translating for trainings and workshops. Work experienced in USAID funded project is a plus.

SKILLS: Able to communicate fluently effectively both verbally and in writing in English, Pashto, and Dari. Strong knowledge of and ability to translate Legal English. Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team. Must also be able to create a supportive working relationship among all project teams.

LANGUAGES:Excellent Language proficiency in spoken and written English, Dari and Pashto.
