NATO Afghanistan - Resolute Support , Multi Location
The Linguistic Services is responsible for enabling Headquarters (HQ) ISAF to communicate in the local languages with authorities and populations in its area of operations. Civilian interpreters/translators work in the Linguistic Services of Directorate of Staff (DOS) at HQ ISAF. The Linguistic Service is responsible for the provision of linguistic support, to include translation of documents and interpretation.
Under the supervision of a translator, translates all types of texts from English to Dari and/or Pashto and vice versa.
Interprets in liaison and consecutive mode from English to Dari and/or Pashto and vice versa.
If qualified, translates from other language(s) to Dari and/or Pashto or to English.
Assist in the preperation of text for translation, including obtaining relevant reference materials for use by translator.
Keeps abreast of issues related to NATO and ISAF policies.
Maintains a knowledge of specific and technical fields and the related terminology.
Assists in the compilation of relevant glossaries and terminological database.
Replaces the administrative assistant when the latter is absent.
Take part in 24/7 roster as required.
Perform other related duties as required.
Accompanies members of HQ ISAF to functions and acts as an enabler to allow members of HQ ISAF to meet local dignitaries. Participates in training organised through the Chief Linguistic Service.
Ability to interpret and translate at the required level of quality.
Sound and up-to-date knowledge of political, cultural, scientific and technical matters, especially as related to Afghanistan.
Previous experience of work as interpreter/translator.
Knowledge of other languages.
Formal language training.
Formal qualifications or work experience demonstrating linguistic ability.
Ability to interpret and translate at the required level of quality.

Additional Remarks:
