• Conduct relevant background research for such assessments
• Conduct interviews in Kabul and in the field where deemed accessible for internationals
• Produce drafts and final versions of research papers after comments from TLO management, Head of Research, and Chief of Research Officer
• Support the Head of Research/Peacebuilding and Chief Research Officer in managing research projects, including: research design, training of surveyors, supervision of data collection, data entry, management and analysis of data
Research and Analysis
• Support Head of Research/Peacebuilding and Chief Research Officer in the areas of research/analysis
• Conduct relevant background research for such assessments
• Conduct interviews in Kabul and in the field where deemed accessible for internationals
• Produce drafts and final versions of research papers after comments from TLO management, Head of Research, and Chief of Research Officer
• Support the Head of Research/Peacebuilding and Chief Research Officer in managing research projects, including: research design, training of surveyors, supervision of data collection, data entry, management and analysis of data
• Contribute to new research ideas and proposals
• Assist in donor reporting and participate in presentations to donor
• Ensure timely completion of deliverables
Capacity Building
• Training of research section staff in how to conduct field research and write reports
• Training of research officers in presenting of research findings to donors
• Other trainings identified by TLO Management where staff feels he can contribute to
Other Areas
• Upon request of TLO management, Head of Research/Peacebuilding, and Chief Research Officer, the Senior Research Officer will perform other tasks related to his/her work
• Master in a social science discipline (e.g. anthropology, sociology, political science), candidate with Ph.D. preferable
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in research and analysis with NGO’s, International Organizations, and/or academic institutions
• Highly analytical
• Fluent in English
• Strong communication and writing skills in English
• Proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto preferred
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting
• Independent worker and team-player
• Capacity to work within a given deadline in a high energy and fast past environment
• Excellent inter-personal and social skills
• High knowledge in MS Office Package (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point)
